TANK MAINTENANCE & INSPECTION

TANK MAINTENANCE & INSPECTION

Tank integrity is not optional in the petroleum storage industry — it is a legal requirement, a safety imperative, and a business necessity. Elit-Oil-Pavlodar provides comprehensive tank maintenance, cleaning, inspection, and repair services for our own assets and for third-party tank farm operators across Kazakhstan and our international terminal locations. Our inspection and maintenance programmes are structured around international best-practice standards, including API 650, API 653, and Kazakhstan’s applicable technical regulations.

Inspection Services

  • External Visual Inspection — Regular (minimum every 5 years per API 653) examination of shell, roof, nozzles, foundations, insulation, and appurtenances. Detection of external corrosion, leaks, settlement, and coating deterioration.
  • Internal Inspection — Full internal examination (typically every 10 years per API 653) — tank bottom plate integrity, internal corrosion, weld joint evaluation, floor scanning.
  • Ultrasonic Thickness (UT) Testing — Non-destructive measurement of shell and bottom plate wall thickness; corrosion rate calculation and remaining life assessment.
  • Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) — Detection of surface cracks and weld discontinuities on shell, nozzles, and bottom plates.
  • Radiographic Testing (RT) — Weld integrity evaluation and subsurface flaw detection.
  • 3D Laser Scanning & Drone Survey — Geometric deformation assessment, coating condition survey, and settlement evaluation for large tanks.
  • Foundation & Settlement Assessment — Evaluation of differential settlement and tank tilt in accordance with API 653 requirements.

Maintenance Services

  • Tank cleaning — degassing, dewatering, sludge removal, and waste disposal in accordance with environmental regulations
  • Cathodic protection system installation and monitoring for tank floor corrosion control
  • Internal and external coating application and repair — epoxy, glass flake, and specialist coating systems
  • Nozzle and manway replacement and repair
  • Shell plate repair — patching, insert plate installation, and weld repair to API 653 standards
  • Tank bottom replacement for severely corroded floor plates
  • Floating roof seal replacement and maintenance
  • Flame arrester and pressure/vacuum relief valve inspection and replacement

Tank Repair & Alteration

  • All repair and alteration work executed to API 653 / API 650 standards
  • ASME Section IX qualified welders for all structural weld repairs
  • Non-destructive examination (NDE) of all new welds prior to return to service
  • Fitness-for-service (FFS) assessments using API 579-1/ASME FFS-1 methodology
  • Post-repair hydrostatic or pneumatic testing as required

Certification & Documentation
